How can I make a reservation at the Retreat?
We recommend reserving directly through this website. Feel free to reach out to us for assistance!
What is the difference between reserving the retreat on your website versus VRBO, AirBnB or any other on-line site?
While OTA’s (On-line Travel Agencies) are a trusted source to secure reservations, they charge additional service or booking fees. To avoid these fees, receive the guaranteed lowest available rates, and receive direct and personalized service booking directly with us is the recommended way to go.
How will I know my booking was successful?
Within minutes of reserving, you will receive a “booking confirmation” email outlining check-in/check-out dates along with a reservation number.
How much will I be charged when I make my reservation?
You will be charged in full the nightly rate based on a 2 person occupancy. An additional charge of 25.00 per night/per person over 2 guests will apply as well as the Alberta Tourism Levy and GST.
Do toddlers count towards the maximum occupancy?
Toddlers under the age of 2 stay for free.
Do you offer monthly rates?
We are a short term rental offering a 20 night maximum stay.
What is your cancellation policy?
- 90% if canceled 30 days prior to the Check-in Date
- 75% if canceled 10-29 days prior to the Check-in Date
How do I obtain keys to the cabin?
When you arrive at Beaver Hills please go straight to the cabin. The cabin will be unlocked and ready for you between 17:00 - 20:00. If you plan on checking in later than 20:00 please let us know so we can make alternative arrangements.
We require our guests to show government issued picture ID (drivers license, passport, etc) but will give you a chance to settle in prior to stopping by.
What time is check-in?
You are welcome to check-in between 17:00 - 20:00.
Do you allow early check-ins?
If we can accommodate an early check in, we will. Please contact us prior to your scheduled check-in date to inquire. If approved, you will receive an email from us stating so with the approved time. Without this email, please do not arrive at the cabin any earlier than the standard check-in time.
Do you allow late check-ins?
Yes. Please let us know if you will be checking in later than 20:00.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is 11:00.
Do you allow late check-outs?
In order to service the cabin for the next arriving guests we ask that you adhere to the 11:00 check-out time.
What am I required to do at check-out?
All we ask is that you load and start the dishwasher, leave the beds that you used unmade, remove all food that you brought with you from the refrigerator and cabinets. Lastly check drawers, cabinets, closets and outlets to make sure you have all your belongings.
What is included with the rental?
You will have exclusive use of 10 acres with private walking trails, the cabin, courtyard, fire-pit and large yard all to yourself. We offer 24/7 support; if you have any questions or concerns your on site hosts are a quick phone call or text message away.
What supplies can I expect to find in the cabin?
You can expect to find a full size stainless fridge, stove, dishwasher & microwave. Toaster, drip coffee maker, coffee, tea, sugar, coffee whitener cooking oil and basic spices. Dishes, pots, pans, bowls, strainers, graters, drinking glasses, wine glasses, cutlery, cooking utensils, and the list goes on!
We also provide toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher soap, body/hand soap, shampoo & conditioner.
Basically, we are your “home away from home”. Just pack a few clothes and some groceries!
Does the cabin come complete with linens, bedding and towels?
All the beds are made with fresh linens prior to your arrival. Adequate bath towels, hand towels, washcloths and dish towels are provided based on the allowed occupancy.
Do you supply firewood?
While quantities last we supply dry seasoned firewood "at cost" - $40.00 for an 80 pound bag. We recommend you check to ensure availability. Please note:Fire-pit use prohibited during fire bans issued by the County of Strathcona.
*4 roasting forks are also available.
How can I find out if a fire ban is in effect?
For current County of Strathcona "fire ban status" simply text the word "burn" to 587 340 3696.
Can I bring my own firewood?
Sorry, we do not allow guests to bring their own firewood as firewood serves as a potential carrier for insects, fungi and diseases. Infested firewood could potentially expose our trees to destructive pests like beetles, termites, or carpenter ants. These organisms can quickly invade healthy trees, causing irreversible damage or tree death.
Does the cabin have internet access?
The cabin is equipped with high speed wifi.
What entertainment can I expect to find at the cabin?
You can expect to find a 50” smart TV with a full cable package and Netflix.
What about climate control?
We got you covered! The cabin is equipped with air conditioning to keep you cool on the hot days and when it’s cold in-floor radiant heat and a 40,000 btu fireplace with remote control to keep you warm. ALL the creature comforts of home!
Do you charge for parking?
Parking is included.
How many vehicles can you accommodate?
We have room for up to 3 vehicles.
Can I plug in my vehicle?
We have "one" outdoor outlet available.
Does Beaver Hills Retreat have walking trails?
Beaver Hills Retreat has over 3 km of walking trails perfect for walking and snowshoeing.
Are the trails available year-round?
Depending on snowfall we do our best to keep the trails available year round.
Is the water drinkable?
The cabin comes equipped with potable city water that is safe for cooking and drinking.
What is your maximum occupancy?
The maximum number of guests is limited to 4 persons (including children).
Can I have visitors and allow more people in the home than the maximum occupancy listed?
Sorry, no additional guests or visitors allowed on the premises other than those who have “originally” booked.
Can I smoke/vape in the cabin?
No smoking/vaping in the cabin and/or on the trails. Smoking/vaping is allowed outside on the patio or around the fire-pit only.
Can I have a special event or wedding in the cabin or on the property?
We enforce a strict no party, wedding or special event policy. We do not allow large gatherings at the retreat.
Is Beaver Hills Retreat dog friendly?
Absolutely! We are dog friendly. What is a retreat without your fur babe?
Is Beaver Hills Retreat cat friendly?
Unfortunately, due to allergies we do not accept cats.
What is your pet policy?
If bringing a dog the following criteria will apply:
If you are bringing a dog he/she must be registered at the time of booking.
- 1 well trained dog over 2 years old and under 50 lb. maximum
- Dogs are not allowed in beds or loft areas.
- If excessive pet hair is found in these areas additional charges may apply.
- Owners must pick-up after their dog.
- Dogs must not be left on the property unattended.
- Dogs must be on leash at all times during birding season.
- An additional non-refundable “one time” pet fee of 100.00 will apply
Do you offer pet supplies?
We provide a large dog bed, blanket, towel, water dish, and food dish. We also provide a gate to help barricade dogs from the loft area.
